Demuir’s Cruel Summer Mix – SlothBoogie Mix #465

Oh Demuir‘s Cruel Summer mix is such a classy delight – if this is for a cruel summer, I’d love to know what a wonderful summer would sound like.

I’ve written about his mixes before, his name sounds to me like he’s been around since the 1990’s, but apart from a couple of tracks released in 2001, most of his work seems to have been done from mid-2010’s onwards.

It’s very much a Chicago sound, lots of upbeat and occasionally jacking house, interspersed with some funkier and more soulful moments.

I’ve listed to this mix a lot, but I remember when I first heard it because it suddenly switches into a chunky techno beat after an hour of house music, and I mean suddenly, thanks to this beauty of a track:

That production is class, but mixing house, disco and techno in one track is very brave and could easily sound awful…but it so works.

Quite a few of Demuir’s own tracks feature too, I’m particularly a fan of Take A Moment (Dub Mix).

This is a class mix, especially the second half – and I suspect it will never age.

Enjoyment rating of 8.53.
